2010 Christmas Card

Once again, in lieu of tight budgets and doing our part to go green, we're posting our 2010 Christmas Card online instead of sending one via mail.

Here's our top 10 list from 2010:
  1. OUR NEW RENTAL:  We love it.  It's the biggest place we've ever lived, and relatively inexpensive.  It's got 4 walk-in closets (yes 4!) and two storage spaces.  We've got an office where Josiah can work from home, an enclosed patio for the kids to play, and a yard that is maintained by someone other than myself.
  2. THE YMCA:  It's next door.  And there is free childcare.  So needless to say, we go there a lot.  At least 3-5 times per week.
  3. HAVING A 4 YEAR OLD:  I forgot that Caleb (and any children thereafter) would eventually grow more and more independent.  Caleb can put on his own pajamas, brush his teeth, and put himself to bed.
  4. THE SECOND YEAR OF GRAD SCHOOL:  We made it through the first year!  And the second year has been much more fun than the first.  Fewer papers and more projects.  A more reasonable schedule.  You can find out more about his current work at Baylor at josiahwallace.blogspot.com.
  5. HAVING AN "almost" 2 YEAR OLD:  Sam's now playing with his older brother, initiating tackles, and throwing tantrums.  He brings us so much joy.
6.  BETHANY'S JOB:  Bethany is loving her job as a music teacher at First Baptist Woodway Church, where the boys attend while she works.   It helps that the kids love it as well.  School is a happy place, and Caleb often describes it as "the best part of my day."
7. OUR COMMUNITY:  Through our church and school, we've made a lot of friends who are also transplants to the Waco area.  It's been fun to spend holidays together, celebrate birthdays, and babysit for one another during stressful times.  We feel truly blessed to have found such a loving community. And then of course I have a fabulous brother, sister-in-law, and niece only one and half hours away!  Caleb loves playing with his 6 yr. old cousin Zella, and visits with my brother's family are truly a treat.

8.  SPENDING A MONTH IN THE NORTHWEST:  We enjoyed spending quality time with our friends and family from the Pacific Northwest.  We miss them so much, and it was wonderful to be able to spend an entire month visiting and catching up.  We spent time on Grandma and Grandpa Long's farm in Oregon, went on a beach vacation with our McNichols side of the family, and were especially blessed to have one last visit with Grandma Grace before she passed away last summer.  In-between adventures we lived at "Ahma and Bompa's" (Bethany's Parents), who graciously made room for us in their house.

9. TAPROOT THEATRE COMPANY:  Is still a major presence in our lives as Bethany continues to write social issue plays for elementary students.  She recently completed a show on bullying prevention titled Treasure Ally (pirates are excellent fodder for bullying material!) and is currently working on a Sci-fi show for 2011.  Here's a short clip of some backstage action during the pre-show involving monkeys.  It is unfortunate that it seems to be the most popular part of the show considering it is the one part Bethany did not write!

10.  LIVING IN THE GREATEST STATE IN AMERICA--TEXAS!
Or at least that's what Texans think.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Team Wallace!
