Gavin fell down a flight of stairs a few weeks ago (yes a FULL flight at a neighbor kids house during a birthday party). Took him to a doctor to get checked out the next morning because he was complaining of pain. Doctor ASKED ME WHERE THE SUPERVISING ADULT WAS! Not my normal doc... and I won't be seeing him again.
We have a video of Zack when he was navigating the stairs for the first time. The (ahem) camera man documented Zack's valiant efforts as well as a tumble backwards down a few carpeted steps and the resulting tears. When we watched it recently with teenage Zack and Lauren, we were soundly lectured along these same lines!
